The Electric Eel

This is old technology where a steel cable is fed into the sewer or stormwater line. The cable rotates a cutting head to cut through roots and releases sludge and debris leaving the line clear.

The Electric Eel is not a guaranteed method of completely clearing your line as small roots are still left to grow back and eventually another blockage will re-occur.

High Pressure Water Jet Cleaner

This is new technology where a tremendous pressure of water is sent up the sewer or stormwater line.

Using varied pressure cutting heads, which pulverises root growth, breaks up sludge and debris, penetrates grease, and flushes out the line leaving it completely clear. A guaranteed method to completely clear your line.

Note: Complete removal of root growth permanently with the use of either the electric eel or the high pressure water jet cleaner cannot be guaranteed due to possible breakages in your pipes. A CCTV camera (drain camera) can be used to determine the exact reason for your blockage, at which point we can determine a cost effective solution.

A drain camera takes the guess work out of sewer and/or stormwater repairs. Upon clearing a stubborn line with a high pressure water jet cleaner, a drain camera can be used to locate the source of the problem.

This ensures we are given exact information to determine a cost effective solution.

With this drain camera image we can determine whether drain maintenance is the appropriate follow up or possibly excavation is required.

How to Prevent Drain Blockage or Cracking in the First Place.

The best strategy of all?  Preventing clogged or crack drains before they ever happen, and here a just of few of the ways to do that:

• Avoid planting trees and shrubs near your sewer line;
• Every now and then, pour an environmentally friendly root killer down your drain to kill existing roots, prevent new growth…and all without damaging your trees or shrubs;
• Pour bacon and other kinds of grease into a coffee can or similar container to dispose of later;
• If you do pour grease down your drain, pour lots of cold water on top of it….cold water helps to dissolve the grease, while hot water ultimately will help the grease build up.
